Biography
Educated in Biology at Groningen University (Drs., 1977), I obtained my Doctorate at Wageningen Agricultural University in 1996 on the subject of digestive strategies in ruminants and non ruminants. My past research focussed on the role of grazing herbivores in the conservation and management of temperate systems, and on the differences in the various digestive systems that can be found in the group of ungulates.

At present my main interest is in studying plant-animal interactions (optimal foraging), population dynamics of herbivores (roe deer, brown hare), and problems in the field of wildlife management and wildlife utilization.
I teach courses in animal ecology and wildlife management. Supervising postgraduates and PhD students is part of the daily routine.
